About a month ago, I purchased the Resy Cookie Box, which is comprised of cookies from restaurants all over the country and that was baked and packaged by Milk Bar. I have finally eaten all the cookies and here are my thoughts on each. I am going to list the name of the cookie, restaurant, location, and chef. (The Milk Bar link has photos of each of the cookies.)
Yuzu Espresso Martini Cookie – Double Chicken Please – New York – Faye Chen & GN Chan
Very strong coffee taste. Not sweet.
Hot Cocoa Cookie – Milk Bar – USA – Christina Tosi
Chocolately and sweet. Forgot it would have marshmallow (which I hate) but could not taste it.
Peppermint Crinkle Cookie – Girl & the Goat – Chicago & Los Angeles – Stephanie Izard
Very chocolately and pepperminty. Small pieces of candy cane throughout.
Gochugaru Black Sesame Cookie – Baroo – Los Angeles – Kwang Uh
Not sweet. Heat.
Grinchy Pandan Cookie – Hai Hai – Minneapolis – Christina Nguyen
Delicious but very sweet.
Tahini Pistachio Chocolate Chunk Cookie – Mandolin Aegean Bistro – Miami – Anthony Galleno
Delicious. Chocolate taste but did not taste pistachio.
Scottish Oatmeal Currant Cookie – Nàdair – Atlanta – Kevin Gillespie
Mid-cookie got a soapy taste. Disappointed because Gillespie is one of my favorite Top Chef chefs.
Mexican Wedding Cookie – Mi Tocaya Antojería – Chicago – Diana Dávila
Delicious. Not too sweet. Cinnamon-y.
Nankhatai Cookie – Rasika – Washington, DC – Vikram Sunderam
Delicious. Sweet. Vanilla. Nutty taste.
Furikake Popcorn Cookie – Liholiho Yacht Club – San Francisco – Ravi Kapur
More I ate, the more it tasted like vegetables.
S’Mores Cookie – Friday Saturday Sunday – Philadelphia – Amanda Rafalski
Graham cracker taste; not enough chocolate taste. Two blobs of marshmallow were okay.
Sweetbun Cookie – Saltie Girl – Boston & Los Angeles – Ben Sidell
Very sweet.
The delicious cookies were really delicious. I assumed it would be hit and miss. And, of course, what I prefer may not be others’ preferences.
Also, it was fun trying different tastes in cookies. I tend towards chocolate cookies, so trying ingredients I’m not familiar with made me want to try something with those ingredients again.
