Measure for Measure: New York Classical Theatre 14 August 2015

This was a new place to see one of New York Classical Theatre’s panoramic productions. This time rtb, meli, and I went to Brooklyn Bridge Park, which is a true jewel.

Artistic director Stephen Burdman directed this lovely version of Shakespeare’s Measure for Measure. There were no programs so I can’t identify the actors but the actors playing Pompey Bum, Lucio, and Elbow were having a lot of fun with their roles. They took into account the sounds of the helicopters and boats in the harbor. It was difficult to hear – probably the most difficulty I’ve had at one of their productions. But I could hear enough to enjoy the jokes and follow the switched identities.

But the real star of the play was New York harbor and the NYC skyline.
