I watched The Banshees of Inisherin today on HBO Max.

First – I enjoyed it a lot. More than I thought I would. I was avoiding it because despite it being called a comedy, the movie did not appear to be a comedy to me. And I don’t think it is. It has some funny moments but I frequently scratch my head at how some movies are categorized.

The acting, writing, and cinematography are excellent. I found no fault there at all.

Had it been an independent film with unknown actors and director/writer, I think it probably would not have garnered as much attention.

I loved how Siobhán’s color story changed through the movie.

And, for me, as beautiful as the scenery was, I would have loved to see this as a play. Despite it being so open, I think this would have worked really well as a play.
